A driver is dead after a car crashed into a tree at Bannockburn.

A 50-year-old Russells Bridge man was found by paramedics in the vehicle about 7:05am on June 17.

A Victoria Police spokesman said it appeared the car had veered off Clyde Hill Road and crashed into the tree.

“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 50-year-old Russels Bridge man, died at the scene,” the spokesman said.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.”

Vision from the scene showed a white ute in a paddock with the driver’s side crumpled.
