Cats dress up for Wacky Wednesday

Cats players got creative on Wacky Wednesday to celebrate the end of their footy season.

Retiring Geelong champion Tom Hawkins dressed up as French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati who went viral online during the Paris Olympics after an unfortunate incident when his bulge got in the way of clearing the height.

Speaking to media outside the Wharf Shed, Hawkins said his retirement was still sinking in and he would miss the club and teammates.

When asked who would win Saturday’s grand final, he said he thought the Swans would come out on top.

Max Holmes dressed up as 7News sport reporter Mitch Cleary, staying on theme after his impression of footy broadcaster Gerard Whateley last year in 2022.

Holmes was accompanied by Tanner Bruhn, who dressed as fellow sports reporter Sam McClure, while Mark Blicavs came as West Coast Eagles young gun Harley Reid.

Despite the rain, Ollie Henry and Sam De Koning arrived in style in a red Ferrari, a nod to the 2013 film Rush.

Jeremy Cameron dressed as survival and wildlife expert Russell Coight and Gary Rohan, who was delisted from the club on Tuesday, kept it simple as a plumber.

A group of players dressed as characters from the US TV show Prison Break while another group went as chess pieces, a nod to the team’s chess club.

Meanwhile, Brad Close pulled out a niche internet reference, a video of a cat with a Batman mask.
