The organiser of the online fundraiser – which by Friday had raised more than $1000 – said they had created the page to assist the girl.

“This attack was sickening and no teenager, nor parent should have to endure what this girl and her family have” they wrote.

“It will be a long road ahead for this girl mentally.

The organiser said the community wanted to help the girl.

“People are wanting to help this girl so we thought we would set up a GoFundMe page for her, to help try and lift her spirits after the traumatic ordeal she has endured.”

Following the alleged assault the girl’s mum said Geelong’s streets were no longer safe.

“Our youth, the future people of Geelong, just want to feel safe in our community and not be looking over their shoulders and worrying about being attacked by these thugs for no reason.”

The alleged victim did not suffer serious injury.
