A woman who randomly attacked multiple civilians in Geelong, including punching a 16-year-old boy on a bus and dragging a female to the ground by her hair, has been sentenced to jail.

Bluebell Glover, 26, fronted the Geelong Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link from the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in Melbourne and pleaded guilty to a number of charges including unlawful assault and shop theft.

On June 21 this year, Glover went to Westfield Geelong and tried to punch a woman several times.

Glover then continued along Malop St where she demanded a cigarette from a woman before trying to steal her bag and punching her 10 times in the face and arms.

On August 19, about 3pm, a 16-year-old boy from Corio was waiting at the bus stop at Geelong train station.

Glover approached the boy to ask for the time and then both boarded the bus.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Ryan Luscombe said Glover sat a row in front of the boy and was talking to herself.

She was acting erratically, and claimed the teenager called her ugly before punching him with a closed fist, leaving his face swollen.

The boy got off the bus before it departed and went to the nearby Geelong police station to report the incident.

Days later on August 28 about 11am, Glover was at Westfield Geelong and randomly called a 22-year-old woman a lesbian.

Glover then ran towards the young woman, who was inside activewear store Lorna Jane, and pulled her by her hair towards the ground, hitting her multiple times before bystanders intervened.

Constable Luscombe said the victim was left “upset and shocked”.

This string of incidents came after Glover was at a tram stop in Melbourne on May 16 when she approached an unknown victim and said to her “f—king b--ch, I’m going to punch and hit you”.

She then chased the victim along the road and footpath before dragging her down by her hair and striking her 10 times to the back of her head.

Bystanders intervened to stop Glover.

Glover also stole a number of items from shops across Geelong between June and September this year, including designer sunglasses, clothing, a Britney Spears perfume and food from a Norlane service station.

Glover’s lawyer Ron Davis said his client has limited support and had experienced extensive periods of homelessness.

“It’s a case where Glover has been reluctant to speak freely with me other than to confirm her plea of guilty, which she has changed on a number of occasions,” Mr Davis said.

Magistrate Franz Holzer sentenced Glover to 75 days in prison, with 53 days reckoned as time served, and a $1400 fine.

Had Glover not pleaded guilty, Mr Holzer would have sentenced her to five months in jail.

Mr Holzer warned Glover she needs to start thinking before she acts.

“If you can do that, that will act as a break between thinking something and acting out,” he said.

“You have to try and control that as best as you can, you have to be the one who imposes a filter.”
