Kardinia International College principal Catherine Lockhart said the school was celebrating its inclusion in the list due to its holistic ranking approach.
“While academic excellence remains a core focus, we are equally committed to nurturing the holistic development of our students,” Mrs Lockhart said.
“This encompasses fostering their social, personal, intercultural, critical, creative, and ethical skills.
“We view our students as multidimensional individuals, valuing them beyond their ATAR scores.”
The independent Better Education group says it aims to provide “informative and comparative” school analysis in order to give parents the ability to make informed schooling choices for their children.
The group’s analysis of Victorian schools provides an index of performance, rather than a ranking system, and includes 2023 academic outcomes such as median VCE study scores and percentage of VCE scores of 40 and over, among numerous other variables.
Within the index of performance, the best overall score is 100 and the worst is 60.
Schools that achieved a score of 100 include Melbourne High School, Mac. Robertson Girls’ High School, Nossal High School, Presbyterian Ladies’ College and Ballarat Clarendon.
In the top 100 schools, 24 were girls’ schools and nine were boys’ schools.
Some of the state’s top performing government schools included Glen Waverley Secondary College (99), Balwyn High School (98), East Doncaster Secondary College (98), Highvale Secondary College (98), Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (98) and Box Hill High School (97).
Schools that achieved a score of 97 alongside Kardinia International College, Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School and Bacchus Marsh Grammar.
