The summer break is upon us and many cricketers across the region can afford to put the feet up after their feats so far this season.
Torquay batter Steve Young is the top runscorer of 2500 mens cricketers across the region in the Geelong Cricket Association competitions, blasting 505 at an average of 72.14 in GCA2 thirds.
Young has hit two centuries, including a high score of 139, and three 50s in what has been a stunning season so far.
Highton gun Gregory Willows isn’t far behind with 494 runs in the top competition in the region in GCA1 first grade, making two hundreds and a half-century himself.
Guild St Mary’s bowler Vishal Yadav continues to rack up the wickets in GCA4 seconds with 24 scalps at an average of 9.08 for the season — four more wickets than the next best, Dhanuja Haturusingha from Waurn Ponds Deakin in GCA4 firsts.
In the women's competitions, East Belmont star Bec Farey leads all comers with 231 runs for the season with two centuries in A Grade.
Farey is 20 runs ahead of fellow A Grade batter Kisara De Alwis, who has posted 211 runs for the season including a high score of 51.
Geelong City wicket-taker Bianca Summers has ripped through B Grade batting line-ups this season, claiming 19 poles at an average of 5.26, with the highlight being a stunning haul of 6-10.
Drysdale D Grade bowler Toni McCormack has claimed 16 wickets at 5.44 herself, much of that thanks to her staggering figures of 5-1 in one much.
