As megastars Pete Davidson, Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry begin to make regular appearances around FNQ, some fans are sharing their rather amusing encounters with the celebs.
Backpacker and Pete Davidson fan Sean Fitzgerald, bumped into the comedian turned actor in Cairns while rollerblading on the Esplanade.
“So I was kind of hungover, I was ready to just go sweat it out and do like a proper rollerblade sesh, and I’m walking on Esplanade, and I see him,” he said.
“I yelled out, almost like a sigh ‘Pete’, and I chuck my rollerblades on the ground and I’m like ‘can we get a picture’ and he’s like ‘yeah for sure’.
“So we take a selfie, and I ask him what he’s doing here, and he was like ‘you know just filming some bullsh*t’ and I’m like ‘that’s so dope’.”
Mr Fitzgerald, who is originally from the US, recalled the surprise of spotting one of his favourite celebrities in FNQ of all places.
“Of all the places I’ve come to, it was not in Sydney, not Bondi beach, not Coogee beach, no it was when I was in socks, walking towards the esplanade, in-line skates in my hand,” he said.
“I mean I literally almost fell over, I really wanted to cry, he really has meant something in my life, it was crazy, crazy cool.”
Katy Perry was also spotted in Port Douglas at Choo Choos at the Marina Port Douglas, with one year old daughter Daisy Dove.
Choo Choos employee Indianna Paull took to social media, sharing her embarrassment over telling Katy Perry she had to “wait for a table” after not recognising the singer when she entered the café.
Recalling the blunder on TikTok, Ms Paull said “when you are the first dumb oblivious b***h to tell Katy Perry she has to wait for a table”.
Despite the gaffe, Choos choos manager Bec Stemp told the Cairns Post that the star was very courteous and polite.
“She was so nice, really really lovely, it was awesome,” she said.
