We are five rounds into the season and already a host of cricketers across the region are making a name for themselves.
Guild St Mary’s bowler Vishal Yadav is the most prolific wicket-taker across the Geelong Cricket Association with 17 scalps in GCA 2 2nd XI.
His massive haul is four more than any other GCA bowler, with Waurn Ponds Deakin’s Dhanuja Haturusingha the second ranked bowler with 13 wickets.
Meanwhile, Torquay batter Steve Young has been a runscoring machine in GCA 2 3rd XI, amassing 332 runs with two half centuries and a hundred.
He leads all comers in the entire GCA, with South Barwon 1st XI captain Nick Butters the next best with 306 runs.
Butters has hit more sixes than any other player this season, blasting 20 — almost double the next best — for the season along with 22 boundaries.
Noone has hit more than three half-centuries for the season and Geelong City’s Danny Wilson has passed 50 in all three of his innings this season.
Newcomb & District bowler Troy Whitworth has the best figures across the GCA in the first five rounds taking 7-23, while eight others have snared six-wicket hauls across various competitions.
