Rove and Sam dumped from 2DAY FM breakfast radio show

RADIO duo Rove McManus and Sam Frost have been dumped from the 2DAY FM breakfast line-up due to consistent poor ratings. They will be replaced by Em Rusciano and Harley Breen.

RADIO duo Rove McManus and Sam Frost have been dumped from the 2DAY FM breakfast line-up due to poor ratings.

Southern Cross Austereo today announced the pair will be moving out of the breakfast slot and into a nightly show which airs on January 30 from 7pm-8pm across the network.

Rove and Sam have languished at the bottom of the FM dial since their show started in November 2015.

The decision came after Rove and Sam, along with SCA executives, decided the “best way forward” was to move their show into another slot.

As The Daily Telegraph previously reported, the pair were brought in by SCA in a bid to boost the Network’s ratings after popular radio hosts, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O moved to KIIS FM.

With McManus’ contract rumoured to have cost SCA $3.7 million per year, it’s been a disappointing and expensive experiment for the radio network.

In a statement released by 2DAY FM, the duo remarked on their time together.

“I’m pleased to move on with my friend Rove to our next gig, as well as undertake other commitments outside of radio,” Frost said.

McManus added: “One of the pleasures of 2016 has been working with Sam so I am looking forward to continuing working with her in 2017 at a more civilised time of day.”

The duo will be replaced by Em Rusciano and Harley Breen starting at 6am from January 23, with their show titled The Em Rusciano Radio Show, with Harley Breen.

The Daily Telegraph previously tipped Rusciano to replace Rove and Sam, as the pair’s ratings lingered at a low 4.3 per cent.

This is another blow to Bachelorette Frost, having just gone public with her split with boyfriend Sasha Mielczarek.
