A musician will be sharing some of her most personal music during this year’s North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA) as she debuts new songs inspired by emotional moments during her husband’s cancer battle.
Victorian singer songwriter Daisy Spratt began performing in high school and since releasing her debut single ‘Love Like That’ in 2016 she has been travelling around Australia and the world recording and playing her music.
Now she is excited to bring her indie pop sound to Queensland for the first time.
“I was looking for opportunities around Australia and applied for a couple things interstate and the girls at NAFA got back to me and said they’d love for me to play some shows which is so exciting,” Spratt said.
Spratt said that her newest releases ‘Winter Coat’ and ‘Green Eyes’ document different moments in time during her husband’s battle with multiple myeloma.
“They’re all about the whole journey from my perspective and about different moments during 2021,” she said.
“The song ‘Winter Coat’ is about trying to be strong for him and protecting him like a winter coat does when it’s cold.
“This song coming out next week is called ‘Green Eyes’, which is about a moment when he was singing green eyes by Coldplay to me and I got all emotional in the moment.”
“It just kind of takes you through different moments through that journey and I guess hopefully provides a bit of encouragement for people that might be in similar situations.”
Spratt will be playing on October 5 and 6 at the Bunker, with tickets available now on the NAFA website.
