A curfew call for the Barkly capital has been downplayed by NT Police, who instead say they’ve made another arrest in relation to a recent wild weekend in the town.

NT Police confirmed “all offenders” in relation to the recent crime spree through Tennant Creek over the weekend are “now before the court” on Wednesday afternoon.

The fourth arrest made in connection to the spree, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, was teen, aged 14.

He was arrested Tuesday morning, according to police, and he has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, theft, and aggravated burglary.

“He was bailed to appear in court on 12 January 2026,” NT Police said in a statement.

Three other teens, one aged 17 and two aged 16, have also been arrested and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, theft, and aggravated burglary over the crime spree.

At the weekend Barkly MLA Steve Edgington’s office was rammed, the town’s cop shop was rammed, the Tennant Creek Hotel was ram raided and alcohol stolen, and three cars were stolen.

In the wake of the weekend, an emergency meeting was held in the town on Monday night.

NT Police acting superintendent Mick Fields said police attended the meeting, and “are committed to working with local stakeholders to address these issues”.

“Continued mobile CCTV deployment will occur throughout the town and the police led Tennant Creek Interagency Tasking Coordination Group will continue to share information collaboratively to address local community safety and anti-social behaviour issues,” he said.

“Police Safer Streets Patrols will also deliver proactive, highly visible patrols complementary to frontline general duties activities through the upcoming summer months as part of Ludlow II.

“Local police are able call on specialist support including Dog Operations, Territory Mounted Unit, Strike Force Viper, Fugitive Task Force and Traffic Operations.”

In September, Tennant Creek publican Jason Groves called for a curfew for Tennant – a position he said he still holds in the wake of the spree.

Barkly Regional Council Mayor Sid Vashist, talking with this masthead on Tuesday, called for a “circuit breaker” for the town.

“People are genuinely living in fear,” he said on Tuesday.

But on Wednesday, an NT Police spokesman said there are no plans for a curfew for the Barkly capital.
