April 28, 2.30pm: A mid-morning assault in the Alice Springs CBD has ended with one woman in custody and two other people in hospital – one requiring treatment after she was “stabbed with a pair of scissors multiple times”.

A woman, 38, was arrested in Alice Springs CBD, “a short distance away” from where two people were allegedly assaulted about 9.30am Monday.

Police allege the woman assaulted her male partner on Gregory Tce, knocking him unconscious by striking him on the back of the head.

The alleged assault continued while the man was on the ground, police said.

A woman who was with the man was found along Hartley St with multiple stab wounds, believed to be inflicted by scissors, police said.

The 38-year-old woman was arrested on Hartley St while both victims were sent to hospital.

She is expected to be charged later, police said, with no exact time given.

Investigations are continuing, police said, and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.

Police have asked reference number P25115909 be quoted in relation to the incident.

April 28, 12.30pm: Two women allegedly trying to take grog and drugs to a restricted remote community will have their day in court later this year, police say.

The two women were arrested just before Anzac Day, police said, and have been charged with supplying a trafficable quantity of cannabis and attempting to bring alcohol into a restricted area.

Police allege the women – both aged 30 – were found in possession of a large amount of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and 63 litres of grog.

They have been served a notice to appear in court in Yuendumu on June 11, police say.

“Intel” led to police making the bust, with Southern Desert Division Senior Sergeant Conan Robertson thanking the public for their help.

“We know all too well the devastating impacts of alcohol related harm in our remote communities and will continue to proactively target those intending to bring alcohol into restricted areas,” he said.

“It is important that we continue to work together to keep people safe.”

Police said anyone with information on the illicit supply of drugs or alcohol into remote communities should contact them on 131 444.
