In honour of his late father, three-year old Otto Johnstone has been growing his hair since he was born, rocking a stunning cut just like his old man.
And now the toddler has been voted as Far North Queensland’s best mullet by Cairns Post readers.
Otto’s Mum, Letitia Johnstone, said he had been growing his hair in honour of his dad, Peter Johnstone.
“We more, started the mullet because he wouldn’t sit still for haircuts and then his dad passed away 18 months ago and I found a photo of his dad with a mullet and the back of (Otto’s hair) started to look like his Dad’s ringlets,” Ms Johnstone said.
“So we decided not to cut the ringlets and let it grow.”
Ms Johnstone, who nominated her son “for fun”, said she was shocked to hear he had won the poll.
“We were surprised. I didn’t expect him to win,” she said.
“I just put him in as sort of something different and yeah, was quite surprised that he won.”
The youngest of six boys, Ms Johnstone described Otto as a “typical boy” who loved playing with his toy cars and trucks.
“He attends daycare and he’s typical boy,” she said.
“He likes to run around, he likes Paw Patrol and Hey Dougie and he likes his dinosaurs, his Hot Wheels cars and trucks.”
In a tight competition, only one vote separated first and second place, with two-year-old Kasch coming in a close second.
