Six people have been taken to hospital after an early morning single-vehicle accident at the bottom of the Kuranda Range.

A spokesman for Queensland Ambulance Service said several crews were originally called to transport seven people following a single-vehicle accident, but six were ultimately taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The accident happened just after 6:15am, according to a Queensland Police spokeswoman.

One lane of traffic was blocked for around an hour.

The car rolled at the Smithfield end of the Macalister Range (Kuranda Range Rd) and came to a rest on its side, said police.
