Queensland Country Bank Cairns City branch in partnership with the Young Animal Protection Society, hosted a handful of rescue dogs at its Sheridan Street office for Bring Your Dog to Work Day on June 20.

Queensland Country Bank money mentor, Ash Bessant, said the event aimed to foster conversation around the financial cost of adopting a pet.

“The aim is to prevent financial stress and reduce the number of pets returning to shelters,” Ms Bessant said.

“We help our members budget for life’s big moments, like bringing home a new furry family

member and for the ongoing costs that come with that commitment.”

Queensland Country Bank Cairns City branch manager, Trisha Sabatino said the puppy pop-up was a great way to showcase the work animal shelters provide in the community, and hoped to help pups find their forver homes.

“Many of our staff volunteer with YAPS through our Corporate Volunteering Program, and we thought Bring Your Dog to Work day was the perfect opportunity to bring some puppy love into our branch,” Ms Sabatino said.

“It’s an opportunity to showcase the incredible work YAPS does in our community, and importantly, we want to highlight the financial responsibility of pet ownership to help reduce unwanted litters and abandoned pets.”

Residents can speak with a Queensland Country Bank money mentor, and drop off donations of non-perishable dog and cat food to support the ongoing work of YAPS.
