Far North police are on the hunt for a “group of people” who allegedly assaulted a Cairns service station employee, stole her car and later abandoned it.
The Queensland Police Service is alleging about 6.45am on Saturday, a group of people with tools forced entry to a service station on Koch St, Manunda.
“The group approached the front counter and the employee, a 22-year-old woman, fled on foot with her personal belongings,” the QPS statement read.
“The employee was confronted by the group outside, was assaulted and the group demanded the keys to her personal vehicle.
“She has complied and the group stole her silver Hyundai SUV and fled the scene in the vehicle.
“The vehicle was later located abandoned on Murray Street, Manunda and seized for examination.”
Police are appealing anyone with dashcam or CCTV of the incident to come forward.
