Police have identified a man who was killed after the car he was driving crashed into a parked truck.
The Holloways Beach resident, 25, was driving a ute along Machans St, Machans Beach, about 11.30pm Wednesday when it crashed into a parked truck.
The man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The forensic crash unit is investigating the crash.
It marks the second road fatality in the region in just one week.
A Rocky Point man died in Townsville Hospital on Wednesday, two days after his 4WD rolled in Weipa.
There have been 10 road fatalities in the Far Northern region so far this year, which is one more than the number of lives lost in same period in 2023.
Across the state 115 fatalities had been recorded from the beginning of this year until June 2.
