The chance to win a spectacular cruise to the Spice Islands or a $5000 fuel voucher is up for grabs this weekend at the finish line of the BDO Arrow Experience.

The Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation event, which will mark its fifth year this Sunday, also sees participants raise money for the charity’s Donate for DaNi campaign.

With almost $60,000 already raised, which joins almost a quarter of a million dollars raised at a Cairns Airport dinner last month, the foundation is well on its way to purchasing the surgical robot which promises to reduce recovery times and improve outcomes for patients at Cairns Hospital.

Almost 100 participants have signed up to tackle either a short course up the Yellow Arrow and down the Red, or a long traverse from Green to Blue, then onto the Red and Yellow Arrows in the picturesque Mount Whitfield Conservation Park.

The BDO Arrow Experience has been made possible this year by several local sponsors, including BDO North Queensland, Coral Expeditions, FGF, Audi Centre Cairns, Status Plus, Avis and Star 102.7 Cairns.

BDO North Queensland chief executive Stacey Young said her team was looking forward to the event.

“Best of all, there is still time to register. The event is a great opportunity to gather with family, friends and co-workers while supporting the Hospital Foundation to raise funds for the Donate for DaNi surgical robot,” she said.

“We look forward to celebrating teams as they finish the walk with a chance to spin the BDO prize wheel,” Mrs Young said.

Coral Expeditions team captain Tilly Wickramasekera said the company was proud to have supported the Foundation for the past three years with cruise donations.

“This wonderful cause helps provide support and medical care for our community and those living in the remote areas around us,” Ms Wickramasekera said.

“Our team is eager for the Arrows walk this weekend; it will be a great opportunity for fun and fitness together while supporting a great cause.”

Registrations are welcome on the day from 7am to 9am.
