Female driver flees a roadside drug test in alleged stolen car, injuring officer

A cop has been injured when a driver in Far North Queensland fled the scene during a roadside drug test, after the officer discovered she was driving on a disqualified license.

A cop has been injured when a driver in Far North Queensland fled the scene during a roadside drug test, after the officer discovered she was driving on a disqualified license.

Authorities were called just before 6pm on Monday, April 7, to George Cannon Drive in Mount Sheridan following reports the officer had been injured during the routine traffic stop.

The woman initially compiled but fled when the officer discovered her disqualified license.

As the car sped off, the officer was thrown onto the road, sustaining minor injuries to his arms and legs.

The officer was treated at a medical facility for his injuries.

Police alleged the grey Toyota Kluger, registered 838IH6, had been reported stolen on Sunday, April 6, from a property on Kennedy Creek Road in Carrachan.

It has since been located on Tuesday morning at a Millaa Millaa address.

Police are now appealing to the public for assistance, asking the public to anyone with information or relevant vision to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
