From croissant and waffle burgers to smashed patties and loaded fries, a new hotdog house will put a wild twist on fast food staples when it launches in the Far North on November 2.
Franchise co-owner Varinder Singh said the store would host an open day at its new Civic Centre location on Sheridan Street in the city, offering free hot dogs, face-painting, DJ’s and more.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun and the whole community is invited,” Mr Singh said.
The store will be the eighth link in the Dawg Boys chain and its northernmost location.
“Our food is kind of geared toward regional communities – really heavy, nice crunchy wings and tenders and pulled pork and all that stuff,” he said.
“We have a store in Hervey Bay that was regional as well and we had big support from that community so we decided to come to Cairns and hopefully we get the same support.”
The franchise, which opened in 2020, is best known for its signature ‘hotdawgs,’ distinctive burgers and velvety in-house sauces.
“The waffle burgers are our biggest seller,” he said.
“You get a sweet and savoury, pickle-y taste and it’s a really nice burger.”
Mr Singh said the recently-launched croissant chicken burger has also become a hit.
“Then we recently launched our croissant burger so you get our fried chicken in there, the smashed patties in there, you can add as much as you like. It’s really buttery and yummy,” he said.
“We personally make (the sauces) and put a lot of love and effort in there.”
The Dawg Boys open day will run from 11am to 3pm on November 2.
