“I think it’s really great, getting local artists involved to showcase what the region has to offer,” she said.

“There’s a lot of talent in Cairns and it’s also great having other interstate artists come.

“It gives the local artists an opportunity to support them and expand their music.”

Ms Farnan will be debuting her new EP at the festival.

QSO director artistic planning Timothy Matthies said it will be their first visit with a large orchestra since 2018.

“We are very excited to perform in one of the signature events from the festival,” he said.

Their arrival will give many opportunities to Far North students.

“One of the special things we do is we have our prodigy project,” he said.

Another performer Hope Defteros from Brisbane will be performing at the main stage on Friday, August 26, after she took out a Queensland Music Award in 2021.
