A man has been taken to Cairns Hospital with significant injuries following a serious crash south of Cairns which had initially closed the Bruce Hwy.
About 6pm on Monday emergency services were called to the Bruce Hwy, north of Ellis Rd near Bellenden Ker, about 40 minutes south of Cairns after they had received a call for a single vehicle rollover.
At 7.40pm a Queensland Ambulance Spokeswoman said paramedics had retrieved a man in his 30s from the incident and he was being taken to Cairns Hospital with significant injuries.
A Queensland Police spokesman at 6.35pm said crews were on scene and ascertaining “who’s who,” but the initial call to emergency services indicated it was “serious.”
The Queensland Fire Department had two vehicles at the scene of the incident, and as of 6.30pm, Queensland Traffic was reporting the Bruce Hwy was closed in all directions with delays expected.
At 7.50pm Queensland Traffic had reported the highway had reopened to a single lane, with delays expected.
