William Tyrrell’s foster mother referred to DPP over boy’s disappearance

Police are moving forward with their investigation into the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell and are considering charges.

Police have referred William Tyrrell’s foster mother to prosecutors for consideration of charges over the little boy’s disappearance.

Detectives believe that they have enough to charge the woman over William’s disappearance and have referred the matter to the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), 9 News has reported.

The development comes just one day after the little boy’s 12th birthday.

William was three years old when he disappeared from a home in the small town of Kendall on the NSW mid-north coast in September 2014, last seen wearing a Spider-Man suit.

Nine News reports detectives have recommended the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, be charged with perverting the course of justice and interfering with a corpse.

She has always strenuously denied being involved with his disappearance.

NSW Police declined to provide any details but confirmed that the investigation was ongoing.

Since 2020, the case has been reviewed by a new set of detectives who carried out a huge search on the property where William was last seen.

Despite dozens of officers searching bushland a kilometre from the house, there was no trace of any remains.
