Surfer dies after being pulled from the ocean at Byron Bay
A 57-year-old Byron Bay man had sadly died after being pulled from the water despite the best efforts to revive him.

A local surfer has died after being pulled from the water at Byron Bay on Thursday afternoon.
An off-duty paramedic and local police attempted to resuscitate the 57-year-old man after he was pulled unconscious from the ocean by three surfers.
Emergency services were called to Wategos Beach, a popular swimming spot near the main Byron township, about 2.10pm.
NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived but the man died at the scene despite their best efforts.
He has since been formally identified as a Byron Bay resident.
Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
