A video posted to TikTok has shown two groups of men, believed to be rival soccer fans, hurtling metal chairs and umbrellas at each other on a popular Melbourne strip.

Wild brawl erupts outside Richmond pub

A violent brawl broke out on a busy Melbourne strip after an A-League soccer match on Saturday night.

At least 10 men can be seen hurtling bar stools at each other near G Bar on Richmond’s Swan St, in a video posted to Tik Tok.

The footage shows two groups of men using metal chairs and umbrellas from the sports bar as weapons.

One man appears to seek refuge in a venue at one point in the video, as four others throw chairs at his face.

G Bar is known to be a popular post-game pub for Melbourne Victory supporters.

Witness Shabz Pandey told the Herald Sun one group of around 10-15 people and another group of around 7-12 were involved in the brawl.

Footage shows the men hurtling objects at each other from opposite sides of tram tracks, with one man tackled to the ground before another throws a chair at nearby frozen yoghurt store YOKLI’s window.

It is uncertain whether the men had attended an earlier clash between Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City FC at AAMI Park, which ended in a draw.

However, Mr Pandey said “they were in front of a popular bar that many people go to after Melbourne Victory games”.

YOKLI worker Elsa Potter was working when the brawl erupted, telling the Herald Sun at least 15 pedestrians sought refuge in the shop before a bar stool was thrown at the front window.

“I had to let everyone out through the back so they weren’t coming back out onto the street,” she said.

“It was a crazy night … I was just worried they would try and come in.”

G Bar was reportedly closed on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman reportedly said the group fled the scene when officers arrived about 10.15pm.

“A 27-year-old Officer man was arrested nearby,” she told the Herald Sun.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
