A man found deceased in a playground near a primary school in Melbourne’s southwest has been remembered as a “loving son” who worked to build a better life in Australia.
Victoria Police said the man’s body was found near Elementary Rd in Mambourin – roughly 10km from Werribee – about 7.30am on Tuesday.
He has since been identified as Anmoral Bajwa, 36.
A GoFundMe has been set up by a friend of the family to support Mr Bajwa’s wife and children.
The fundraiser described him as “a father, a husband and a loving son” who was found less than 200m from his home.
“Anmoral was a community and family orientated person who worked hard to build a better life in Australia,” the fundraiser stated.
Another friend, Babbu Khehra, offered his own tribute to Mr Bajwa on Facebook.
“Anmoral was a source of love, light, and inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,” he wrote.
“His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy live on in the lives he touched.”
A man, who police believe is known to the victim, is currently in custody and assisting officers with the investigation.
“The investigation remains ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone from the area who may have CCTV or dashcam footage,” a police statement read.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
