Man charged with fatal crash that killed pedestrian, 60, in Blakehurst, NSW

A 60-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a car on a major road in Sydney’s south, with the driver allegedly responsible now facing serious charges.

A man has now been charged following a fatal crash in Sydney’s south, which killed a 60-year-old pedestrian.

Police allege the 60-year-old woman was struck by a car on King Georges Rd, Blakehurst at about 6pm on Tuesday.

Paramedics tried to revive her but she died at the scene.

The 28-year-old man allegedly behind the wheel of the car was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Two of three westbound lanes on the major road were closed and a crime scene was established.

The 28-year-old driver has been charged over the incident, and will face court next month.

The alleged driver was arrested and taken to the St George police station after being discharged from the hospital.

He has since been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving occasioning death, and his licence suspended.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court next month.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
