Man arrested after woman’s body found inside home in Hamilton, Victoria

A woman has been found dead inside a home in Victoria, with a man now to be interviewed by police.

A man has been arrested after a woman’s body was found inside a home in western regional Victoria.

Police were called to a property on Henty Highway in Hamilton - about 288km west of Melbourne - for a welfare check about 7.30pm on Thursday.

They discovered a 48-year-old woman’s body inside the home upon arrival.

Following a nearby search, police arrested a 48-year-old Hamilton man, who will be interviewed.

No charges have been laid.

Police believe both people were known to each other.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,” a police statement read.
