A Queensland hospital was sent into lockdown and the public urged to avoid the area on Wednesday morning after reports of an armed offender in the building.

Police raced to the building about 11.20am on Wednesday, and conducted a “thorough search of the area”.

“Police located a male and no threat was detected,” a spokesman said.

“Officers have spoken with the man and there will be no further action taken by police.”

The lockdown was lifted shortly after.

Wednesday’s incident comes just weeks after police were called to Kingaroy Hospital on August 9 to reports of a man armed with a knife.

The man allegedly threatened officers with the knife and was shot by police.

He was taken to hospital and has since been charged with going armed to cause fear and three counts of serious assault police officer.

More to come.
