The car of a man who was found dead in his Gold Coast apartment on Good Friday has allegedly been stolen in a further blow to his family.
Hasel Liu, 31, was found dead in his Coolangatta apartment on Friday morning after his relatives called authorities when they couldn’t reach him for several days.
Mr Liu, who had moved to Australia from Iraq, shared the apartment with his two-year-old daughter, who spent up to four days in the apartment with her dead father.
Just a day after his body was discovered, Mr Liu’s car was allegedly stolen.
Police said they were called to a Stapleton St address about 8pm on Saturday night following reports a vehicle had been stolen.
“Following subsequent patrols and inquiries police were not able to locate the vehicle,” police said.
“Investigations into locating the reported vehicle are ongoing.”
Mr Liu and his daughter had reportedly lived in a car for some time last year on the northern Gold Coast before a charity intervened, according to the Sunday Mail.
The publication also reported Mr Liu had mentioned he felt unwell recently and hadn’t been heard from since Tuesday.
His daughter suffered from dehydration but was otherwise not hurt.
She was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for observation and is now being cared for by her mother.
