A couple and their baby were allegedly threatened with a gun before their car was stolen in a near the Hume Highway.

A man and a woman have been charged following two alleged car-jackings and several police pursuits between Goulburn and Parramatta on Saturday.

Police will allege that officers on a routine patrol of the Federal Highway, south of Goulburn, spotted a Toyota HiLux speeding just after 4pm.

A police check alerted them to a report the vehicle had on Friday been reported stolen from Molong, near Orange.

Officers pursued the vehicle and deployed road spikes south of Marulan after the male driver allegedly failed to stop when directed.

The front tyre of the ute was punctured but the driver continued to Brayton Road, where he and the female passenger saw a family with Ford Territory.

The pair got out of their damaged vehicle and allegedly threatened a couple and their baby with a shortened firearm, before driving the family’s car north on the Hume.

The car was then driven to a service station at Sutton Forest, where it crashed into a guard rail.

The man and the women then approached a black Ford Focus at the service station and allegedly threatened a woman and two teenage girls with the firearm before stealing their car.

The car was seen on the Hume Highway at Yanderra but a police pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

At 5.45pm, it is alleged the car was involved in a collision with three other cars on Narellan Road, Mt Annan, before leaving the scene.

An hour later, PolAir tracked the car to Irving Street, Parramatta, where officers including from the riot squad and dog unit arrested the pair and recovered the firearm.

The man, 33, and woman, 31, who are both from Dubbo were taken to Parramatta police station and charged with multiple offences.

They were both refused bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
