The body of a man in his 60s has been found after a car plunged into the Brisbane River in the city’s western suburbs.
People reported seeing a blue sedan going into the river near Moggill Rd in Brisbane’s southwest at about 6.45pm on Monday.
An enormous search effort was launched near the Moggill ferry - including specialist police, water rescue and other agencies - with hours spent searching for the vehicle.
The car was pulled from the water about 11.20pm.
“Police divers confirmed a man in his 60s was inside the submerged vehicle just after midnight,” a police spokesman told NewsWire.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
