You may have noticed that McDonald’s Big Mac Burgers have come with a unique packaging as part of the build up to McHappy Day, but did you know one of the designs has been illustrated by young North Queensland teenager, Sienna Tait?
The artwork, which features Sienna’s family at the beach with her brother in a wheelchair, is one of four artworks that are being featured across Big Mac Packaging from October 20 until McHappy Day on November 13.
To support seriously ill children, Macca’s have launched bespoke Big Mac boxes designed and illustrated by four children supported by Ronald McDonald House Charities.
While her brother, Ashton awaited surgery after a bike accident, Sienna Tait and her family spent a few days at Ronald McDonald House.
Engaging in the Learning Program at RMHC North Australia, Sienna was able to continue with her education, and felt compelled to enter this year’s Clam Shell drawing competition.
Sienna said the drawing was making fun of her brother who was in a wheelchair, and didn’t expect her drawing to be featured across Big Mac packaging.
Sienna’s mum, Janai Fabbro said Ronald McDonald House was helpful in every way possible.
“They brought all the kids up, our other four kids were able to stay in the house with us, they looked after us and gave us anything that we needed,” Ms Fabbro said.
Ms Fabbro said she was proud that her daughter’s design was being featured by McDonald’s.
Macca’s has also launched limited-edition Birdie Silly Socks in the lead up to McHappy Day on Saturday, 13 November.
Inspired by the much-loved McDonaldland character, Macca’s has made the Birdie Silly Socks exclusively available for sale on the Amazon Australia store from 7.00am AEDT on Wednesday, 27 October.
Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director, McDonald’s Australia said, “We are excited to launch a limited-edition range of Birdie Silly Socks as part of this year’s McHappy Day fundraising efforts.
“The exclusive Birdie design completes our collection of Silly Socks for 2021, inspired by our much-loved McDonaldland characters,” Ms Nakad said.
“We are launching our Birdie socks exclusively via Amazon.com.au to give customers another contactless and convenient way to support McHappy Day and drive donations to RMHC.
“With limited numbers available, Macca’s fans will need to be quick to secure their pair and show their support for McHappy Day,” she said.
