More than 15 organisations are gearing up to share their culture with the Red Centre capital again, in a free event which is also bringing a special guest to town.

Back on at the Alice Springs Town Council lawns – located right in the heart of town – the Big Day Out in Harmony is returning in 2025.

Around 20 different cultural groups that call Alice Springs home will be performing at the free event which also features food, storytelling, a jumping castle, and more.

One of the performances would be by the Alice Springs Indonesian Association, which would perform two dances, committee member Fera South said.

The Sajojo and wonderland Indonesia dances would be performed by a group of five children and six adults, she said.

“(The) Sajojo dance is from Papua (and the) wonderland dance is mix dance from different provinces of Indonesia,” she said.

“In that dance we have North Sulawesi dance, Papua dance, Riau dance, West Sumatra dance, Bali dance, Kalimantan instrument, NTT dance, west Java dance.”

Also taking the stage is south west Sydney rapper L-Fresh the Lion – whose resume includes performing alongside hip-hop royalty such as Nas, Dead Prez and English pop great Sir Elton John.
