Behind modelling, raunchy parties and selfies with Aussie TV stars, ‘Roky Million’ was hiding a dark secret

BEHIND the modelling, the raunchy parties and the selfies with Aussie TV stars, Ben Fiberesima was always hiding a dark secret.

BEHIND the modelling, the parties with supermodels and the selfies with Home and Away stars, Ben Fiberesima held a dark secret.

The 30-year-old had forged a successful career in Australia as a model and musician, featuring on the glossy pages of magazines, and boasting of his links with celebrities — but in actual fact he was a wanted fugitive who’d escaped the UK on fraud and weapons charges.

Fiberesima was jailed this week after being captured by police who fooled him into thinking he was going to a swimwear shoot. Instead, he walked straight into the trap Met detectives from the wanted Offenders Unit has set for him, the Kilburn Times reported.

Fiberesima appeared in campaigns by fashion designers such as Tom Ford after skipping bail in London seven years ago.

Using the name Roky Million in Australia, he released singles and videos downloaded by thousands of fans and quickly gained a cult following.

One of his modelling assignments was trialling the “Google Glass” for a glossy magazine and his lavish lifestyle included partying at times with model Laura Dundovic, and Home and Away stars Dan Ewing and Nic Westaway

During his time in Australia, Fiberesima published a self-help book called Roky’s Power Gain 50 – Rules To Live By To Gain Power, Money and Influence.

He told of going from having no money to being a “a millionaire in 15 months”.

“I grew up in government housing and have been for 80 per cent of my life. I am now worth seven figures at age 26.”

He went on: “I used my in depth knowledge of power to change my fortunes.”

According to The Evening Standard his Established Models biography read: “Raised in London, Roky used his talent for rhyming to be crowned UK Underground rap battle champion 11 times.

“He has travelled extensively modelling for international brands including Calvin Klein, Nike, Tom Ford and YSL.”

It also said “Roky appeared in Baz Luhrman’s film, The Great Gatsby” although it’s unclear what role — if any — he actually had in the production, although he once tweeted a selfie of him with Luhrman at the film’s Australian premiere.

His Twitter feed is a constant stream of shirtless selfies, his obsession with soccer team Arsenal and his celebrity pals.

All of this is a world away from the London life he fled. Fiberesima was originally arrested in September 2008 after calling police claiming someone was attempting to enter his flat in north-west London, the Standard reported.

When police showed up, there was no intruder but they did find a stun gun, a can of CS gas and stolen chequebooks belonging to a neighbour.

He was arrested and charged with fraud, theft and possession of an offensive weapon.

That past finally caught up with him when Fiberesima returned to London living under a false name. Police were tipped off that he was on the books of a model agency, so an officer contacted the agency claiming to represent a fake company and booked Fiberesima for a casting call to model a range of luxury swimwear, the Kilburn Times said.

When he arrived for what he thought was his next assignment at the studio Fiberesima was handcuffed at the door.

Fiberesima was jailed for three years and nine months after being found guilty of two counts of theft, two counts of making false representation and possessing an offensive weapon at Harrow Crown Court earlier this month.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making false representation and one count of possessing a prohibited weapon.

The last message on his Twitter feed, posted in December last year, said: “To all: Roky’s in the 5% of rappers that can genuinely be described as ‘real’ so as is life he’ll be away til further notice #management.”
