As wildfires continue to burn out of control in Los Angeles, things in the city are reaching breaking point with looters running rampant, rents skyrocketing and the blame game fully in action.
Police officials have vowed to throw the book at any people who engage in criminal conduct, with arrests across Los Angeles made in relation to arson, looting and breaching evacuation zones.
The Santa Monica Police Department has released the identities of nearly a dozen attempted burglary suspects within the Palisades fire evacuation zones, as well as their brazen tactics.
Two of the alleged suspects used the Watch Duty app, which tracks fire and evacuation zones, on their phones to identify homes to target, police said.
Gloves, burglary tools, dark clothing, ski masks and large tote bags allegedly found in their van.
A brief lull in the wind has rapidly given way to gusts that forecasters said would feed the ongoing Palisades fire and Eaton fire for days to come, prompting them to issue a rare “particularly dangerous situation” warning.
As of Tuesday AEDT, 24 people have been confirmed dead, 200,000 people have been displaced and around 12,000 structures have been destroyed, along with 35,000 acres of land.
