A person has died following a second serious crash in Cairns south overnight

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Edmonton this morning.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Edmonton on Saturday morning.

At approximately 1.40am, a woman in her 20s was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of the Bruce Hwy and Mill Rd.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene and that the driver of the vehicle was not harmed.

“The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, was not physically injured and is assisting police with inquiries,” the spokeswoman said.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and police are appealing to anyone with relevant footage to contact police.

The incident occurred just hours apart from another horrific crash in Edmonton on Saturday morning, which left a man with life-threatening injuries.
