2024 Fathers Day Picnic held at Picnic Bay for SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week

It was fun galore as the 2024 Father Day Picnic was held at Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island with an inflatable race and sandcastle competition among the activities on offer. See the gallery.

An annual Father’s Day event made a splash again, with families gathering for the 2024 Father’s Day Picnic at Picnic Bay.

Complete with the much loved Great Inflatable Race and sandcastle building competition, the perfect conditions made for a great last day of North Queensland’s ‘winter’.

Shane MacDonald and his family came out to enjoy the day, having first attended last year.

“We were lucky enough to come along this time last year, and didn’t know the event was on to be fair. We just stumbled upon it” he said.

“We saw that it was coming up this hear as well, so we couldn’t miss it. We had a great time last year and having a wonderful time this year as well.”

He said the favourites this year were the sandcastle competition and face painting for his daughters.

General manager of Townsville airport Brendan Cook said the event gets bigger and bigger each year, having attended the last few years.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what (the event) has in the future,” he said.

“It bring families over, it’s all about connecting communities, connecting families on the beach and what a great day to celebrate winter,” he said.
