HSC student reacts to ATAR

Among the more than 70,000 students who have secured their HSC results today, few should be more proud of their academic achievements than the 1457 Year 12s who today gain entry to a very exclusive club – the HSC’s all-rounders.

To be named an all-rounder, students must achieve a Band 6 – or 90 or above in at least 10 “units” of study – for some, this can be as many as eight different subjects.

These students, often the Duces of their schools, are also those likeliest to achieve the highest ATARs over 99.

Boys’ school Sydney Grammar School in the inner city had the greatest number of all-round achievers with 64, while Knox Grammar School on Sydney’s upper north shore had 63.
