List of the Central West’s richest and poorest schools

The richest schools in the state’s west have raked in almost a billion dollars in the past five years according to recent school funding statistics. See the results below.

Central West NSW’s richest school has raked in more than $168.4 million in five years with the total income per student sitting at $33,751 in 2022, the most recent school funding statistics reveal.

An independent analysis of school financial records from the MySchool website have shown the massive amount of money some schools make every year, and how little some schools are forced to scrape by on.

The figures revealed Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange had a higher gross income than any other school in the Central West NSW region.

The school made a gross income of $168.4 million, according to financial records from the combined past five years.

The school’s income increased by 19 per cent between 2018 and 2022.

The region’s second richest school was James Sheahan Catholic High School, in Orange, which had a gross income of $98.4 million.

Its total gross income per student in 2022 was $20,767.

The school with the third highest gross income was Denison College of Secondary Education, Bathurst High Campus, in Bathurst, which made $92.1 million.

Its total gross income per student in 2022 was $20,954.

The figures include all fees, charges and parental contributions as well as State and Federal Government funding and any other private sources over the five years from 2018 to 2022.

It does not include any deductions for capital works or debt servicing.

The analysis does not include special schools or schools that did not have complete financial data in MySchool for one or more of the five years.

Sofala Public School at Sofala had the lowest gross income of any school in the Central West NSW region.

It made just $1.7 million over the five-year period.

Its total gross income fell by one per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $31,594.

Hampton Public School at Hampton had the second lowest gross income of any school in the Central West NSW region.

It made just $2 million over the five-year period.

Its total gross income increased by 26 per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $60,001.

Glen Alice Public School at Glen Alice had the third lowest gross income of any school in the Central West NSW region.

It made just $2.1 million over the five-year period.

Its total gross income increased by 25 per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $75,386.
