My First Year 2023 NSW: All the schools participating this year

It’s the project that celebrates our kindergarten students’ first days at school. Find out if your school is part of the huge My First Year special.

The first year of schooling is an exciting milestone for NSW children and their parents – and our photographers have been on hand to document the moment in time.

With the launch of News Corp’s My First Year initiative in NSW, we’re joining kids, parents and caregivers in celebrating the first uniforms, first packed lunches, and of course, a whole lot of new friends at kindergarten.

We’ve been welcomed into schools statewide and captured hundreds of faces across the Central Coast, the Riverina and Capital Country, southeast NSW and up to northern NSW.

Some kindergarten classes were bursting at the seams, while others included just one or two students.

Principal Robynne Scott of Peats Ridge Public School – which has just two kindergarten students – said she was thrilled to welcome the new starters.

Ms Scott said kindergarten was all about “learning to be at school”.

The state government states children who have a positive start to their schooling are more likely to engage in their education and experience ongoing academic and social success.
