SYDNEY public schools accused of being involved in a Knox Grammar Discord chat featuring sexist, racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic language have been left scratching their heads after Knox failed to provide any evidence they were involved.
It was revealed over the weekend that selective schools North Sydney Boys and James Ruse Agricultural College students were also in the chatroom.
But Knox Grammar has so far failed to provide evidence of public school student participation in the chatroom.
“The Department is yet to receive any substantiated information that a public school student was part of this chat group.
“The Department of Education has zero tolerance for the behaviour exhibited on the Discord channel and will act quickly to discipline any public school student involved with the group.”
In response, Knox Grammar said “the information you ask about has been provided directly to the schools involved for their follow-up so you will need to contact them directly as it is not our place to talk on their behalf.”
Despite requesting information from Knox, The Department of Education was yet to receive any information from the school on Wednesday afternoon.
Public school parents said they were angered that it appeared students were accused of participating in the chatroom when no clear evidence had come to light.
“They’re not prepared to provide the information that’s required for proper investigation to the authority which is charged with this for the Minister for Education,” Central Coast P and C president Sharryn Brownlee said.
“Parents are really concerned if there was any deflection by not providing the evidence straight away to what people are thinking.
“We need factual evidence, the onus is on them to provide it.”
As revealed by The Daily Telegraph, the student chat called Gang Gang on messaging app Discord involved students from Knox along with former students and friends who were invited into the closed chat room.
From anonymous accounts with names such as Ni**er Removal Service and Fa**othater3000, the users swapped and discussed content so graphic that much of it could not be published.
One user wrote “I hate fems I hate gays, jews, people who don’t play fortnite, furries, ni**ers, I love titties, feet abortion, rape, drugs …”
The school has suspended numerous students over the chatroom while others have left the school.
