Disturbing act as woman run over at Springvale crossing

Dashcam footage shows the moment a woman was struck by a car while crossing a road in Melbourne. What happened next left viewers shocked.

Dramatic footage has emerged of a woman being struck by a car in Melbourne as she attempts to cross the road — and the reaction of the motorist and the surrounding pedestrians has left some shocked.

The woman is crossing on a green walking light when a car appears to run a red light and knocks her down.

Several bystanders come to her aid, but the video shows others walking past the scene. The driver also appears to begin driving away before the passenger opens the door to check

on the woman.

The pedestrian seemed to be crossing the street legally, while approaching cars turning left waited for her to cross.

The black sedan enters the intersection from the left and appears to strike the woman when she is almost half way across the crossing.

Viewers of the dashcam footage on social media expressed shock by the reaction of the driver who appeared to try to drive away after the collision.

“She was half way across the road, seriously he should have stopped,” read one comment.

“What the hell is wrong with drivers?” another commenter wrote.

“This poor pedestrian was crossing the street and she was seen, what the hell was the driver doing?”

Viewers were also shocked that pedestrians did not stop to help the woman.

“What about the people walking right past the injured woman wtf,” one said.

“The lady in the umbrella casually crosses with no f**ks given,” added another.

The comments were filled with people leaving their well wishes for the woman.

“Hope that poor woman is alright!” one person said.

Victoria Police has been contacted.
