Vision has captured the moment a pair of motorists clash on a busy Australian street after a bingle that even prompted an angry bystander to weigh in.
Dash Cam Owners Australia shared the footage, comprising a parked car’s side camera and a mobile phone clip shot by a witness.
In it, a white Volkswagen can be seen travelling down bustling Beaumont Street in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton, before braking sharply.
At that point, a red Ford SUV smashes into the back of it, with its bumper becoming stuck on the rear tow bar as a result.
The driver of the first car and a woman travelling with him immediately leap out and each open a door.
A noisy confrontation ensues and a man who witnessed the smash begins recording the scene on his mobile phone.
“Are you happy now, c***?” the driver of the white car screams. “You wanna f***ing get it?”
Things quickly turned physical, with the first motorist appearing to strike the other, and the driver of the red vehicle appearing to reach out to slap the other man as bystanders try to calm the situation.
Although, one woman watching on inflames tensions by offering her view of the collision.
“He only just touched you, you f*** wit,” she yells.
“He’s been up my a** since the train station. You didn’t f***ing see s***.”
Before the vision cuts out, the man behind the wheel of the red car reverses, prompting the other motorist to yell: “Oi, stop.”
New South Wales Police has been approached for comment.
The clip has been viewed more than 93,000 times on Facebook and attracted a flurry of comments, with viewers divided over who’s to blame.
“The red car was inches away from his bumper going up that road,” one noted, saying he didn’t blame the Volkswagen driver for being angry.
“Well at least they have the red car’s rego … literally!” another joked.
Some were disturbed by the level of aggression shown by the occupants of the white car, with one writing: “What gives anyone the right to walk up and open the door and start screaming abuse? Doesn’t have to be that difficult.”
While the red car did appear to be following too closely, many felt like neither motorist covered themselves in glory.
“So many mouth breathers in this incident,” one said. “Only sane person involved seems to be holding the camera.”
Another said: “What was the point? Just exchange insurance details and move on with your day. It’s not the end of the world folks.”
More than a few had some words for the woman with the very distinctive voice, dubbed ‘Sharon’, offering her two cents from the sidelines.
“Shazza has the voice of 50 years of durries,” one wrote.
Another offered: “He lost his bumper lady.”
