Man throws himself onto car in shopping centre car park

An utterly bizarre road rage video filmed in the parking lot of a suburban Sydney shopping centre is doing the rounds on social media.

The baffling dashcam footage shows a man flopping onto the bonnet of a car amid what is understood to be a minor case of road rage.

The car is shown inching forward as a man steps into its path and softly falls onto the hood.

“Bloke got mad because I didn’t let his wife through when he had to give way to me in Macquarie car park,” the poster said.

“So he decides to jump out the back seat and ragdoll on top of my car.”

The footage, posted on numerous platforms by the account Humans of Eastwood, was reportedly filmed on Sunday in the Macquarie Shopping Centre undercover carpark in Sydney’s north.

Some said it appeared the man might have been doing it on purpose for some sort of financial entrapment.

“Kind of looks like fraud to me more than anything like he’s trying to get insurance,” one person speculated.

“He wouldn’t even know this footage exists until we met again in a courtroom,” another suggested.

“This is why I tell my hubby I need a camera.” added another.

In 2016, the New South Wales government established a task force to detect and prosecute CTP (compulsory third-party insurance) fraud claims, of which the video appears to fit the bill.

“CTP fraud can include exaggerated claims, staged accidents, lying about a claim or providing false or misleading information to an insurer, doctor, health professional or lawyer,” the NSW government website states.

Others online said it was the proof they needed to avoid the Christmas shopping rush.

“How good is online shopping,” one person joked.

“This is why I’m staying away from Macquarie until after Christmas,” another said.
