2025 Melbourne Motor Show: Chinese Supercars, EVs and must-see car debuts

The Melbourne Motor Show is set to return this weekend after a 14-year hiatus.
More than 20 automakers will be on display, including Kia, Porsche, Tesla, Subaru, Isuzu, MG and GWM.
The event will showcase a diverse range of vehicles to suit every interest, from electric vehicles to off-roaders and family SUVs.
One of the most striking trends this year is the growing prevalence of Chinese brands, not just as affordable EVs or runabouts, but with high-performance cars such as the MG Cyberster convertible.
A standout moment for the show is the global debut of JAC De-Fine, a Chinese electric supercar.

The bold concept car is more than a design exercise - it stands as evidence of JAC’s vision for the future of electrified performance.
Under the futuristic bodywork, the De-Fine brings 800-volt architecture electrics, a 460kW silicone-carbide motor, and all-wheel drive traction capable of launching the car from 0-100km/h in just three seconds.
Inside, the Skyline Intelligent Cockpit features a panoramic 50-inch curved screen and 15.6-inch central display, integrated ambient lighting, sound and AI-driven voice interaction.
JAC is pushing into premium territory after planting its roots with budget utes.
But the De-Fine isn’t the only exciting vehicle making its first appearance.
The 2025 MG QS will also be unveiled, a large seven-seat SUV designed to take on family favourites like the Toyota Kluger and Mazda CX-80.
The turbo-petrol SUV will be followed by a plug-in hybrid version later on.
The Kia Tasman ute will also be on display for the first time ahead of its July 2025 launch.
Crowds can also catch a glimpse of the Kia EV 3 electric small SUV and the EV5, a mid-size electric SUV.
Isuzu Australia will have the D-Max Blade on display, engineered by Walkinshaw Automotive in Melbourne, it’s one of the most exciting utes on the market.
For those interested in electric vehicles, BYD will display the Shark 6 plug-in hybrid ute and the Sealion 7 electric SUV.

Newcomer, Chinese automaker Leapmotor will also catch attention with their tech-savvy and affordable C10 REEVE range-extender hybrid and the C10 EV.
Performance enthusiasts can get excited for the McLaren Artura Spider, a stunning new addition to McLaren’s line-up.
Tesla will unveil the facelifted Tesla Model Y, giving visitors an up-close look at its latest update before customer deliveries begin in April.
