Ford has finally revealed prices for its new Australian designed and engineered ute.

Prices start at $35,930 (before on-roads) and rise to $85,490 for the range-topping, high-performance Raptor.

Potential buyers can place an order now ahead of the vehicle’s arrival in June.

Surprisingly, regular models have only been hit with a price rise of up to $2240. Buyers wanting the new V6 diesel engine will pay a $3000 premium, though.

The Raptor is slugged with the biggest price rise of about $5000.

Ford’s Raptor commands extra bucks because it comes with a headline grabbing 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine making a hefty 292kW and 583Nm.

That’s a sizeable jump over the current version, which is powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel unit making 157kW and 500Nm.

The Ranger line-up is vast and complicated with different combos of two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and then different body shapes including single cab, double cab and super cab.

There are three engine options, a 2.0-litre single turbo diesel engine for the cheaper models and the option of a bi-turbo 2.0-litre diesel unit and a new grunty 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel for mid- to top-tier versions.

Ford Australia boss, Andrew Birkic, says the new Ranger represents excellent value for customers.

“The 2022 Ranger is a world-class vehicle, with significant leaps forward in technology, safety and capability across the range,” says Birkic.

“Ranger is an award-winning vehicle, and we expect this next-generation model to raise that standard. This is excellent news for our customers, as thanks to the great steps forward for the vehicle, the 2022 Ranger line-up offers a vehicle for every customer, for work, family or play.”

Ford has really tried to make the new Ranger as functional as possible.

Lighting in the rear means finding the right tool in low light is that much easier.

Zone lighting controlled via the Fordpass app is another feature that allows owners to use headlights, side mirror mounted puddle lamps, number plate lamps and the tray lighting to illuminate the area around the ute.

The folding tailgate is designed to be lowered and raised with just one hand and it doubles as a mobile workbench. There are even two hidden clamp pockets to help secure materials used on the tailgate.

Inside there is a 12-inch tablet-style touchscreen loaded up with smartphone morning, wireless phone charging, voice activated features and Ford’s latest apps.

Cheaper versions make do with a 10.1-inch display.

The Wildtrak is likely to have a 360-degree camera, plus clever surround vehicle lighting that makes it easier to set up camp or make running repairs after dark.

Multi-terrain drive modes also feature alongside a smart full-time all-wheel-drive system that adapts to prevailing conditions.
