A 19-year-old man died after he crashed his car while fleeing from police in the US — with the impact so violent that it sent the vehicle’s engine flying through the first floor of a nearby home, officials said.

Massachusetts State Police caught the driver, who has yet to be publicly identified, speeding near an intersection at Belchertown, 135km west of Boston, on Sunday night, local television station WWLP reported.

The driver of the 2011 Nissan Altima then sped away from police, driving through a red light and crashing into a mulch bed on the kerb, causing the car to go airborne, reported the New York Post.

The flying vehicle went on to strike a rock wall, a large tree and a light pole before slamming into a 2023 Jeep Wrangler parked on a street and hitting a nearby home.

Police said the force of the crash was so great, the Nissan’s engine block was knocked out of the vehicle, going airborne itself and flying into the upper floor of a brick home on North Main St.

The engine crash left two large holes in the house, with a large crack running between them.

The collision also sent the 19-year-old driver flying out of his car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“It was a loud sound. It was kind of amazing actually. You could tell something serious had happened,” local Mike Forgue told WWLP.

A 2020 Buick Envision that was parked next to the Jeep Wrangler also sustained damage during the horrific crash.

Police said no one else was inside the Altima at the time of the incident, and no one inside the home where the engine landed was injured.

Massachusetts State Police did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for additional information on the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
