HOMICIDE detectives have interviewed a NSW MP over claims slain businessman Michael McGurk tried to enter NSW Parliament just two days before he was executed.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal the MP gave a verbal statement to police late yesterday afternoon, just hours after detectives handed over an audio recording allegedly made by Mr McGurk outlining alleged corrupt behaviour by Labor identities to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).

The MP, who did not want to be identified, told The Daily Telegraph a man fitting Mr McGurk's description was seen coming into Parliament last Tuesday about 1.20pm - the day Health Minister John Della Bosca resigned over an affair.

The man believed to be Mr McGurk was overheard having a discussion with parliamentary staff and claimed to have been there to see another MP as he had information that could bring down two ministers.

"He was coming in through the front entrance where bags are checked through the X-ray," the MP told The Daily Telegraph.

"I overhead him say . . . I've got enough information here to bring down at least two ministers," the MP said.

He then said he had to see the person he had come to see at Parliament "right away".

It wasn't until the MP saw the pictures of Mr McGurk in the newspaper at the weekend that he thought the likeness was enough to be of interest to police.

"I was walking out the door and remember thinking to myself, 'that's odd'. He was casually dressed but not scruffy and he was speaking quietly and calmly."

Security staff at Parliament House are believed to have reviewed tapes but have not yet been able to identify anyone matching Mr McGurk's description.

Detectives investigating the murder of Mr McGurk, who was shot outside his Cremorne home in front of his son last Thursday, have handed over a tape allegedly made by Mr McGurk to ICAC which it has been alleged contained claims of corruption against NSW MPs and public officials.

In another twist, the proposed "$1 billion" land development cited as being the centre of the McGurk murder appears to be nothing more than a cheap farm owned by Ron and Roy Medich.
