Why Elyse Knowles has no wedding plans with partner Josh Barker

She and her partner Josh Barker are expecting their first baby any day now, but the model reveals they’re in no rush to tie the knot.

Model Elyse Knowles is on the cusp of exciting life changes. However, getting married is not one of them. While the popular model is just days away from becoming a mother and starting a family with partner Josh Barker, she’s in no hurry to become a bride.

“I’m not really fussed about [a wedding],” she reveals to Stellar. “The baby is the biggest commitment we need. We don’t even think about that anymore. I’m not worried about it. I would rather put that money into family and our life all together. We know we love each other.”

Knowles says her eight-year relationship with Barker, who she won reality show The Block with in 2016, has only gotten stronger during her pregnancy.

Even though Barker, a builder, decided to renovate their Byron Bay abode while she was experiencing months of morning sickness.

“Josh always decides to do things at the most perfect time. It was mayhem,” she laughs. “But now I am grateful it’s all done.”

On the cusp of maternity leave Knowles, who is the face of Myer and Seafolly, believes she’s in the right stage of her career to be shifting the focus towards family. And the 28-year-old won’t be rushing back to work.

“If I had it my way I would take a couple of years, but, I’ve worked this hard to get where I am, so I can’t really let go of that just yet. When you freelance you are always on call, so I don’t know how much maternity leave I will get but I will embrace the time I do,” she said.

“I’m very family focused now. My goal is to somewhat separate my brain and life from modelling to family life.”
